About WanderAtlas

Updated 30 July 2026

WanderAtlas is an Indonesian-language travel guide website run by a small editorial team based in Indonesia. We write destination guides, itinerary articles, and event calendars for readers planning their own trips without an agency. This page explains why the site was created, how we research and compile our guides, what’s currently available, the editorial standards and correction policies we uphold, and our next development steps.

Why WanderAtlas was created

Searching for travel information in Indonesian often means opening dozens of tabs with copied content, outdated prices, and recommendations without reasoning. We built WanderAtlas to organize that information into a consistent format: what you need to know before deciding, presented in the same order for every destination.

With a uniform structure, comparing two cities can be done in minutes. The site doesn’t aim to cover every place in the world, but rather to cover fewer destinations with explanations we can stand by.

  • Organizing Indonesian-language travel information in a consistent format
  • Enabling fast and fair comparisons between destinations
  • Including update dates so readers know how current the data is
  • Prioritizing depth in fewer destinations over a shallow catalog

Who these guides are for

Our ideal reader is someone planning their own trip, working with a budget, and visiting a destination for the first time. That’s why our guides emphasize daily costs, how to get around, the best times to visit, and common pitfalls for newcomers.

We also write for experienced travelers who need a data refresh before returning to a city. We do not cater to readers looking for booking services, as we are not a travel agency.

  • Independent travelers who carefully calculate their budget
  • First-time visitors needing a realistic sense of rhythm and costs
  • Experienced travelers who need to verify details before returning
  • Not for readers seeking booking services or tour packages

Guide research methodology

Our guides begin with official sources: tourism authorities, public transport operators, and attraction managers. From there, we filter for information that truly impacts decisions, then add practical context from travel experience and reader reports.

Costs are given as ranges, not single figures, because prices fluctuate with season and exchange rates. Claims found in only one secondary source without confirmation are not included.

  • Official sources first: tourism authorities, transport operators, attraction managers
  • Costs are listed as ranges in the local currency with approximate IDR values
  • Field context is used for tips, not to fabricate data
  • Unconfirmed claims from unclear sources are not included
  • Place names use the official local spelling for easy verification

What’s currently available

This site features 38 destination guides covering Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Oceania, each with the same structure. It also includes 12 itinerary and theme articles discussing daily plans, route comparisons, and cost considerations for specific trips.

The event calendar compiles major festivals and seasons with category and continent filters. The visa page is separate because the needs of Indonesian passport holders differ from widely available English-language guides.

  • 38 destination guides across five continents with a uniform structure
  • 12 itinerary and theme articles with daily plans and cost estimates
  • Event calendar with category and continent filters
  • Special visa guide for Indonesian passport holders
  • Internal search for destinations, articles, and events

Editorial standards and correction policy

We separate editorial content from paid material, and all commercial partnerships are clearly labeled at the top of the page. Rankings and recommendation positions are not sold, and we do not remove factual information at a partner’s request.

When errors are proven, guides are corrected and the page’s update date is changed; corrections that alter conclusions are noted on the editorial notes page. We do not claim certifications, awards, or specific readership numbers, as such claims are irrelevant to guide quality.

  • Sponsored content is always labeled before the body text
  • Rankings and recommendation order are not sold to partners
  • Errors are corrected and documented, not silently edited
  • No certification claims, awards, or reader statistics

How to use this site

Start from a destination page if you already have a place in mind, or from an itinerary article if you’re still weighing options. Each guide can be read by jumping straight to the section you need—like costs or transport—since the order is always the same.

For trips with approaching dates, use the guide as a framework and verify fares and opening hours with official sources. Our guides are designed for the planning stage, not to replace last-minute checks.

  • Already have a destination? Open the relevant destination guide first
  • Still deciding? Start with itinerary articles and route comparisons
  • The uniform structure makes it easy to jump to cost or transport sections
  • Verify fares and opening hours with official sources before you go

Development plans

Next priorities include deepening existing guides before adding new destinations, especially for the most frequently asked sections like costs and local transport. We also aim to add guides for underrepresented regions, expand the event calendar to cover key seasons in more countries, and update visa pages to reflect rule changes.

Our pace matches the capacity of a small team, so we avoid promising unrealistic deadlines. Reader suggestions for new destinations are always considered via email at hello@insight-travel.my.id.
