Contactless bank cards or phones are sufficient, with the same fares as Oyster—including automatic daily and weekly caps. Only buy an Oyster card if your card charges foreign transaction fees per tap. Use the same card for both entry and exit; switching cards resets the cap, as it’s calculated per card.
Do Indonesian passport holders need a visa for the UK?
Yes, Indonesian passport holders require a Standard Visitor Visa. Apply online, upload financial documents and travel plans, then visit an application centre for biometrics. The standard process takes about three weeks, so apply at least one month before departure. The UK ETA does not apply to Indonesian passports—don’t confuse it with that scheme.

Try the TKTS booth in Leicester Square for same-day discounts, or enter day-seat lotteries via each show’s official app. Lottery tickets can be very cheap but are luck-based. For popular shows, booking a midweek matinee is far cheaper than a Saturday night. Avoid street touts selling unguaranteed tickets.
London is expensive—how can I cut daily costs?
Focus on three areas: accommodation, transport, and food. Stay in Zone 2 near a direct Tube line, use the daily cap, and grab supermarket meal deals for lunch. Free museums fill your itinerary at no cost, and large parks are perfect for picnics. For day trips, off-peak return tickets booked early are much cheaper.
How do I get from Heathrow to central London?
The Piccadilly Line is the cheapest, taking about an hour to the city centre, and accepts contactless. The Elizabeth Line is faster and more comfortable for luggage, stopping at Paddington and Tottenham Court Road. The Heathrow Express is the fastest at around 15 minutes to Paddington but is expensive unless booked in advance. Gatwick and Stansted require separate trains.
